10.1 my army Inspired coat.
On February 20, 2018, I turned 30 and as a millennial I was struggling to wrap my mind around turning 30, having earned 2 degrees yet still working two jobs (full-time and part-time), soon-to-be married, still trying to find my way career wise, but nevertheless remaining stylish all in the same breath. But here goes nothing: Welcome to 30 Ima-Obong! So let's get into this 30 & Over club outfit I put together.
Fall '17 Banana Republic x Olivia Palermo released their collaboration collection and I had my eyes set on their red military inspired long coat. I would literally check my BR app every day to see if one of my area BR stores had this beaut in stock so I could try it on. You are probably wondering what is wrong with this woman and that is cool. "I want, I see and I will get" is my motto. *giggles*
Finally, the coat was in stock and when I tried it on. Love at first fit is how I can describe this moment. But of course said "love" came with a hefty price that this millennial was UNWILLING to pay: a whopping $398. Nope. I refused. One thing I did not mention specifically about my part-time job is that I am a brand ambassador for Gap, Inc., Banana Republic Factory Store, to be more specific, which comes with unbelievably gracious benefits, therefore I did NOT pay remotely anywhere near $398 on this coat. Just know, I saved far less than half for this beaut!
PS: I waited MONTHS before wearing this coat just to be able to feature it for my big 3-0 birthday!
10.2 all jean Everything!
I am a true believer that you can never go wrong with an all jean outfit! Because I am plus size, I often frequent Old Navy's jean collection for my jeans because they are roomy, give structure (hiding muffin tops with their "mid-rise" option) fit my tall stature of 5'9 and are reasonably priced. These mid-rise jeans were literally $14-$16. I know I know, you are probably wondering HOW?! Well, I took advantage of Old Navy's black Friday sales last year where the entire store was 50% off (with an extra 15%-20% off with an e-mail code). The jean top is Calvin Klein from TJ Maxx which was $19.99. The boots are DV's Women's Ettie Emerson Heeled Fashion Boots from Target which the original price was $37.99 but of course I used a $5 coupon I had towards this purchase saving me some money.
10.3 Goal Digger!
I was afraid of turning 30, unsure of what I missed in my 20s, filled with regret but one thing I am going to do more of, in my 30s, is complain less and DO more! The goal is to literally make a career out of what I believe I am destined to do and that is providing style and budgeting tips in order to help others find stylish yet affordable pieces/outfits for events, photo shoots, baby showers, birthdays and much more.
